Written for brass quintet
Written to be the ballad section of an overture, this piece was originally going to be part of a more exntensive story depicting the lifelong journey of a mustang, both in a literal sense, as well as metaphorical. This shorter excerpt from that unfinished piece, Ballad for a Mustang’s Journey, depicts a moment of reflection at the end of a long and fulfilling journey, and was written to celebrate the accomplished career of my former junior high school band director, Mr. Jeffery Groth.
